AndersonBaron Receives Elmer H. Anderson Parks Excellence Award

Last month AndersonBaron was honored with the Elmer H. Anderson Parks Excellence Award for the City-Community Park of the year!  Principal Brett Anderson accepted the award in Las Vegas for the Madeira Canyon Park project at the 2011 Nevada Recreation & Parks Society Conference.  Madeira Canyon Park, located in Henderson, Nevada, was designed in cooperation with Pulte Homes and the Madeira Canyon master planned community, with a goal of developing a high density programmed park within the established neighborhood.

The 22-acre community park is the focal point of the existing neighborhood at the edge of the Black Mountains where severe grade changes throughout the park required extensive terracing and retaining walls.  Our thoughtful designs responded to the needs of the park’s users, resulting in contained play areas with tensile shade structures, a garden spot with event lawns, and intimate areas to stroll.  Be sure to check out more on the project, including photos in our Community Design Studio page!
