On October 6, 2015 Rise Communities held a private VIP banquet for about 400 people to roll out the concepts for Meridiana, a 2,700-acre master planned community for which AndersonBaron has been on the design team since 2008. The new cutting-edge design concepts were developed around thematic learning loops and labs that are to be interrelated with the Alvin Independent School District. This project has been an immeasurably rewarding experience for AndersonBaron, as we’ve been working closely with the Client, design team, and Alvin ISD to be able to design something so unique and interactive. Each learning lab will act as a park, but offer so much more than a traditional tot lot or play structures. The themes are all educational and reinforce the notion that the quest for knowledge and exploration is lifelong. Residents of all ages will be able to experience these interactive learning labs that will be complete with their own dedicated text books. Teachers will be able to take their students outdoors and tailor their lesson plans by age and subject at the labs by utilizing QR codes.
The first phase was rolled out this past week, which includes Galileo’s Lab, the Skymap Lab, and the 60’ Meridian Tower which doubles as artwork and a learning lab connecting the earth and sky. Read more about Meridiana and the Learning Labs here.
Meridiana is located near the interchange of Texas 288 and Highway 6, just 30 minutes from downtown Houston and
minutes from the Texas Medical Center. This master planned community will become an exceptional community with more than 5,500 planned homes.
