American Society of Landscape Architects Arizona Chapter President Brett Anderson from AndersonBaron this week presented the ASLA Arizona 2019 PARK(ing) Day Honor Award to the Gilbert High School students participating in today’s annual PARK(ing) Day event along with their teacher Sara Lazar. PARK(ing) Day was created to encourage the community, designers, and students to transform metered parking spaces into temporary parklets. Through this initiative to promote open-source urban design that positively changes the character of a city and its social ecology, parklets can be enjoyed by all from creative experimentation to political and cultural expression, or the impact of just simply engaging in unscripted social interaction.
