The first project from Phil & Penny Knight, Co-founder of Nike. The John E. Jaqua Academic Center is a clear representation of the contemporary, minimalist architecture with a complementary setting: a building in the 3-acre garden. It is simply a glass box inside of a glass box, on a black table of water, set next to a beautiful grove of pure white birch. The design is respectful of place and time but it leaves the parochial nature of the campus for a new age of landscape and architecture.
