Brett is one of the founders of AndersonBaron, having more than 30 years’ experience in high-level design. He earned his bachelor’s in landscape architecture from the University of Arizona, where he began his practice of transforming spaces through creativity. Over the course his career, Brett has advocated for the use of native plant material, environmental design, and placemaking. Having worked closely with governmental entities and diverse projects requiring restoration and use of indigenous materials, Brett has cultivated an in-depth knowledge of plant materials and their successful applications. His award-winning contemporary designs along with his inventive use of sustainable materials, have established his role as an influencer and mentor within the design community. Brett’s long-standing collaboration with leading architects, developers, homebuilders, and governments has not only shaped public and residential areas but has also set the bar for industry standards. One will find his craft spanning regional, national, and international designs for: public and private gardens, large infrastructure sites, master planned com­munities, urban developments, resorts, and expansive parks. Brett takes pride in the profound details of design, whatever the scale.

As co-founder of AndersonBaron, Andy brings more than 25 years of design and planning experience to the art of Landscape Architecture. His craft can be experienced in a diverse body of work for commercial developments, campuses, park planning, resorts, healthcare, master planned communities, multi-family complexes, and city sponsored projects. Andy’s design standards innovate the way we experience the world around us, grounded in the cultural nuances, community character, and surrounding natural environment. His ability to communicate project complexities through design concepts, speaking engagements, and critical board room decisions, makes him a natural leader and adviser. He believes that exceptional design and its integration are products of passion and team collaboration. As Chairman of the City of Chandler Planning and Zoning Commissioner, Andy maintains an active voice in his local community, continuing his efforts to influence future development for the benefit of generations to come. Andy’s experience from local grass-root projects to large international developments gives him a balanced understanding of design, planning, and execution. Whether it is a sports complex, a luxury resort, a sprawling master planned community, or a community garden in his hometown - Andy has mastered an ability to distill the true essence of living into spaces.

Tom’s experience in the landscape architecture industry spans more than 21 years and covers a broad range of project design and management. As an LEED Accredited Professional, Tom has the unique ability to process complex ideas into workable solutions, providing an important component to our Quality Assurance Program. He has a keen understanding of natural processes and the ability to respond to challenges in innovative and creative ways. Tom’s analytical approach to his work broadens the collaborative perspective of our team, and makes him a natural leader. He has been with AndersonBaron since 2010 and has focused primarily on master-planned communities, project management, business development, and client relations in the associate role. Tom enjoys spending time camping in Northern Arizona, riding at the Imperial Sand Dunes, gardening, and playing with his two rescued Boxer pups.

Brian’s strategic approach to design has been two-fold over the past 17 years: creative artistry backed by analysis. This effective blueprint of assessing project feasibility and constraints in the initial stages of design has yielded award-winning communities such as Meridiana and Cane Island. Brian’s comprehensive portfolio includes large-scale master planned communities, commercial developments, hospitality destinations, institutional centers, and upscale residential neighborhoods. Hailing from the Texas Tech University Landscape Architecture Program and having served on the Parks & Recreation Board for the City of Plano, makes Brian an ideal leader for the AndersonBaron Texas Team. He brings his all-encompassing skills to the table to best serve clients and communities. Partnering with Brian means expert direct project management, design development, and site planning. As a true powerhouse, Brian shares his passion for design and drive for success every step of the way.

“Szabo” brings 15 years of experience in the landscape architecture industry to AndersonBaron. His underlying focus is to provide the utmost satisfaction to the client by way of ensuring all projects are not only aesthetically pleasing, but functional as well. As an Associate, Chris oversees the preparation of design and construction documents to ensure they adhere to the firm’s philosophy and to provide the client with a set of documents to construct the project efficiently. As a Chicago native, Szabo follows Chicago sports teams religiously. He also enjoys going to concerts, riding his Harley, snowboarding, golfing, spending time with his family, and going to the dog park with Lincoln (his American Pit Bull Terrier).

Francie is affectionately referred to as the “ninja” of the AndersonBaron office due to her stealth behind-the-scenes role. As the Accounting Manager, Francie works closely with client and vendor billing departments and manages the firm’s accounts including invoicing, sub-consultant and other vendor invoicing, as well as other accounting related duties. This is a vital role at AndersonBaron, and Francie’s acute attention to detail makes her a significant part of the team. When not attending to her ninja duties, Francie enjoys spending time and traveling with her family, bike riding, relaxing at her cabin in Northern Arizona, Ajera, all things Kate Spade, and wine.

Jim was invited to the AndersonBaron team as a Project Manager after having worked with Principals Brett and Andy for six years previously. He has extensive experience on master planned communities and private estates in both the Phoenix and Las Vegas metro areas. His resume also includes parks, streetscapes, major entry monuments, gated entries into parcels, and water features. While he has worked in various capacities of landscape architecture in his 18 years of experience, project management has been his passion. Jim is originally from Omaha, Nebraska, but has made Phoenix his home, residing in a historic district near downtown. Jim spends his free time taking advantage of the desert climate with activities such as competitive mountain biking.

Shelby is a native born and raised Arizonian with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Arizona State University, and a minor in sustainability. She aims to find a balance between desire and functionality in landscapes to aid the needs of the land. Shelby hopes to transform the way urban and environmental landscapes are built in an effort to remain diverse and productive. She has previously gained some professional experience interning with a local architecture firm, and has participated in many volunteer projects and daring adventures as an active Girl Scout. Shelby enjoys music, traveling, cooking, and staying active whether it be participating in sports or the beautiful outdoors with her Australian Kelpie side-kick, Xena.

Michael is no stranger to marketing and prides himself on brand diversity. As a seasoned professional writer gifted in the creative arts, he likes to use his unique talents to engulf readers in the story behind the brand. Brand development is his passion and he loves creating the inspired portrait of any vision. Michael also has great experience in video production and considers it a great honor to be a part of the creative team here at AndersonBaron. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son as well as rooting for his beloved USC Trojans. Fight On!!!

Justin has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Arizona State University. As a Project Manager, Justin provides excellent rendering and graphic skills, and contributes to the production of construction documents for numerous projects. This includes obtaining base materials, coordinating engineering and sub-consultants, as well as providing cost estimation take-offs. He is also involved in preparing certain project design and presentation materials. The vast majority of his time outside of work is spent with his family. Justin and his wife have seven children, so they keep pretty busy!

Yufei graduated from Louisiana State University with a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree from Southeast University in China, both in the field of landscape architecture. Yufei is always pursuing the sustainability and eco-thinking in landscape architecture. He believes AndersonBaron has provided a meaningful platform for developing those thoughts since he joined in July of 2018. Besides the U.S.A. and China, Yufei also has professional experience in Munich, Germany. He believes diverse cultural backgrounds can have a positive influence on landscape designers.

As a part-time science fiction writer, Yufei is always writing sci-fi novels during his spare time. He also enjoys hiking, and when on the trail, sketching and photographing nature's portait!

Alex was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona and has been with AndersonBaron since the beginning. Alex holds the multi-faceted position of Senior Planner, where he coordinates and reviews site plans and designs to ensure compliance with city zoning ordinance, site regulations, design specifications, and standards. Alex also coordinates a review of design recommendations, and prepares concept, design, cost analysis, bidding, award, and installation plans. Alex regularly works with clients and consultants to take projects from the conceptual planning/PAD stage, all the way through construction document approval and into construction. He considers himself a little bit of a perfectionist – and likes things done right! When he isn’t spending time outdoors or hunting, Alex enjoys family time with his two young daughters.

Colin is an Arizona State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. As an Arizona native, Colin grew up hiking, biking, and playing outside, so a career being able to design the outdoor experience was a dream come true. He’s currently preparing to take the LARE exams while also pursuing LEED accreditation, with the hope of receiving both certifications in the near future. Colin’s professional experience includes educational campus design, master planning, community design and theming, as well as residential design. He enjoys spending time with his wife (a fellow landscape architect) and son, hiking, biking, riding motorcycles, taking road trips, and going to the movies.

Brian’s experience in the construction and landscape architecture industry span over 33 years and cover a broad range of project design, management, and installation. No matter how big or small the task, Brian has always had the eye to visualize solutions to complicated problems while keeping his focus on nature and creativity. As a master problem solver, creativity is unbound and great spaces are produce for humanity to enjoy. Brian enjoys spending time in Northern Arizona, golfing, gardening, and remodeling his home.

Aaron is an Assistant Project Manager with AndersonBaron. He grew up on a farm in North Dakota, where his agrarian background helped develop his passion for plants. While studying at North Dakota State University, he became more passionate for design. Aaron relocated from Fargo, ND to Phoenix, AZ in 2014. During his free time, Aaron loves to go camping up in the mountains.

Originally from the Dallas area of Texas, Sarah moved to attend Kansas State University in pursuit of a master’s in landscape architecture and a minor in horticulture before branching out to Phoenix, AZ. Her ideology of the landscape revolves around creating a balance between beauty, functionality, and environmental stewardship. Before moving to Arizona, she spent time working for the City of Garland in Texas, learning about the ways landscapes impact communities and vice versa. Since moving to the desert, Sarah has enjoyed learning about all the new native plants and the climate patterns of Phoenix, while maintaining her own small collection of cacti. In her downtime, Sarah enjoys spending relaxing days at home reading, painting, caring for her small garden, and experimenting with new recipes.

Angie Jamison is an Indiana native. She grew up in Indianapolis and attended Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Angie has vast administrative experience in several different industries including extensive work in client services for a forensic drug testing laboratory right here in Phoenix, AZ. As Office Administrator for AndersonBaron, her duties include day-to-day office operations and greeting you every time with a smile. She looks forward to learning much more about the world of landscape architecture and we’re glad to have her. Angie enjoys the change of pace and scenery Arizona has been offering her since 2011. She also enjoys reading, watching Jeopardy, cheering on her daughter in volleyball, and spending time with her two dogs – Lou and Brody (Tea Cup Yorkie and Shih Tzu Mix).

Miguel was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. His career was inspired by his mother, as he spent summers gardening with frequent visits to Home Depot and local nurseries. Miguel attended UCLA Extension and received his certification in landscape architecture. His professional experience is in landscape design for high end residential and commercial properties. Miguel enjoys the outdoors and sports, especially soccer.

Jason is originally from Olympia, Washington and moved to Arizona in 1994 to study architectural design at Arizona State Univerity. He graduated from technical college with a focus in computer-aided design (CAD). Throughout his career, Jason has held various positions within the construction and design industry. In fact, he previously worked with Brett Anderson, Andy Baron, and other current AndersonBaron team members from 2002-2006. During that time, Jason really carved out his niche for landscape architecture by gaining extensive experience working on several master planned communities and commercial properties throughout Arizona and the surrounding areas. He enjoys venturing out to the Arizona desert in his jeep, spending time with friends, and watching movies.

Kim has built her career within a variety of design and marketing roles where she has been the designer, developer, manager, and director. She received her bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in graphic design and recently received her MBA in marketing from Grand Canyon University. In addition to being organized and personable, her design background helps her create alternative solutions to business problems – particularly when it comes to marketing campaigns. Not only is Kim used to wearing many hats, she sincerely enjoys it and thrives in an environment where multiple projects requires management. Kim also excels at creating and maintaining relationships with clients as well as co-workers. Outside of work, Kim enjoys scouting new spots to fly-fish with her husband, mountain biking in Northern Arizona, and trying new local breweries.

Growing up in the valley has given him an opportunity to grow his appreciation for desert plant life and the beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Mark enjoys hiking, golfing, and fishing.

Leann is an Arizona native. She grew up on the Navajo Reservation in a small town along Highway 191 called Rock Point. Leann moved to Phoenix in 1998, where she worked her way up from entry level to a senior position in accounting, and is currently one year away from graduating with a bachelor's degree in her profession. Leann has worked in the Environmental Planning & Landscape Architecture industry for the past 12 years. She joined the AndersonBaron Team as Accounting Manager, tasked with project accounting and general office duties. Leann enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching movies, trail bike riding, and the occasional hike.

Hillary is a graduate of Connecticut College with a bachelor’s degree in government and a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Arizona. She grew up in downtown Phoenix, but has lived in various cities around the country/world including: Austin, Portland, Los Angeles, Cape Town, and Tokyo. Her professional experience includes working with various municipalities across the State of Arizona, and developing long-range planning documents that direct growth and influence the functional design of cities and counties into the future. Hillary joined AndersonBaron as a Planning Manager in 2017, and focuses on producing and managing new developments through the entitlement process. Outside of work, Hillary enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, riding bikes around Downtown Phoenix, trying new restaurants, and teaching her dogs, Juniper and Pappy(a Vizsla and German Shorthaired-Pointer) to hunt and dock jump.
